Vertex Receives Innovation Award for Neurodiversity Program

As Vertex President and CEO David DeStefano noted last May, our commitment to diversity and inclusion “takes into account people with different backgrounds, experiences, cultures and perspectives.” David made that point while expressing pride regarding a recent talent management initiative at Vertex, which is designed to provide employment to local adults with autism. Today, we remain proud to invest in our program and humbled that we’ve been recognized for its success.

This summer, SpARC Philadelphia’s Neurodiversity in the Workplace initiative presented Vertex with its Innovation Award for our unique approach to creating “bridge jobs” that allow individuals to make the jump from unemployment to meaningful work now and in the future. SpARC Philadelphia also honored EY and Dell for similar neurodiversity employment programs. U.S. Senator Robert Casey of Pennsylvania wrote a note congratulating Vertex on receiving the award, noting that “the recognition speaks to the high regard of your success in creating opportunities for employment.”

The recognition is appreciated, especially given how well our program reflects a set of underlying organizational values that emphasize innovative practices, a collaborative work environment, and a personal commitment to respect all people.
