South Dakota v. Wayfair Ruling: Are you Ready to Comply?

Episode 1

Tax Tech Today Thumnail

The U.S. Supreme Court ruling stands to dramatically change the landscape for online sellers when it comes to sales tax. The ruling, South Dakota v. Wayfair, was announced in June 2018 and makes it mandatory for online retailers to collect sales tax from customers in individual states, even if they do not have a physical presence in those states. The ruling also means that the states will likely now increase their efforts to collect sales tax on online sales.

Any business that sells goods remotely could be affected, which means some companies may need to invest in new technology and processes for taxes.

In episode one of our podcast series on the changing space of tax technology our Chief Tax Officer—Transaction Tax Michael Bernard, Director in the Chief Tax Office, Nancy Manzano, and Senior Product Manager, Mark Sieszkowski, talk with CIO Magazine’s Joan Goodchild in this edition of Tax Technology Today.
