What is a Sales Tax Holiday?

Sales tax holidays started to become popular in the late 1990’s to offer consumers a break from sales taxes for certain purchases for a specific period of time.

Originally, tax holidays were offered to consumers for back to school supplies but have been expanded to cover hurricane supplies and even hunting supplies. These short term exemptions usually apply only to consumer sales and not B2B sales.
