Olympics fans and viewers are not the only ones coming together to celebrate their best and brightest this month.

I recently shared my passion for Olympic competition with Vertex employees. I especially appreciate watching individual athletes hone their skills through practice, breakthroughs and overcoming unexpected adversity as part of a united team competing for their country.

In a recent communication marking Vertex’s IPO anniversary, I thanked employees for their hard work, collaboration and innovation. Their commitment and creativity enabled Vertex to introduce new products and reach new heights as a public company amid a year of unprecedented changes and challenges triggered by COVID-19. I’d like to express similar gratitude to Vertex investors, partners, customers and communities while underscoring the company’s dedication to operating as “an indispensable part of global commerce.”

David DeStefano became our President and Chief Executive Officer in November 2016, joined our Board in 2016 and was appointed Chairperson of our Board in 2020. Between 2015 and 2016 he was an Executive Vice President and a member of the Company’s Executive Council, which monitored our long-term strategic and financial viability, corporate brand, and culture. Mr. DeStefano previously served as our Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. DeStefano was Principal, and Vice President at The Mid Atlantic Companies Ltd. Mr. DeStefano is also on the Advisory Board for Corporate Social Responsibility at the Satell Institute and is on the Board of Trustees of the Joseph Fund in Camden, New Jersey. Mr. DeStefano received a BS in Finance from Lehigh University.
