Build & Blossom: An Initiative Rooted in Leadership, Connection & Community

This October at Vertex Exchange in Austin, we hosted an event that went far beyond networking, it was about leadership, connection, and community. Our Build & Blossom Women in in Tax Technology Luncheon brought together a group of inspiring women from the industry who assembled beautiful bouquets as we reflected on who we are today and who we aspire to become, while celebrating the qualities that define impactful leadership.

A Luncheon Rooted in Purpose

As attendees created their personalized bouquets, they were encouraged to think about the qualities that define them and to share those insights with one another. The result was a room filled with meaningful conversations, thoughtful moments of self-discovery, and a renewed appreciation for the impact we create when we come together.

This initiative became even more meaningful through Vertex’s partnership with Flower Fairies, an Austin-based organization dedicated to community giving. The arrangements crafted during our luncheon were shared with hospice patients, extending the positivity and spirit of our event far beyond the room.

Each flower at the luncheon carried a powerful meaning and was intentionally chosen to symbolize a leadership quality or personal strength: the rose symbolized leadership and commitment, reminding us of the strength and integrity that define true leaders; stock represented endurance and lasting impact, reflecting perseverance and the foundations of long-term success; larkspur stood for collaboration and communication, celebrating the openness and trust that fuel strong teams; carnation embodied resilience and drive, showcasing adaptability and determination in the face of challenges; and cushion pom poms conveyed unity and empowerment, a cheerful reminder that shared achievement and optimism help us all shine brighter.

The event embodied the essence of the Vertex Women in Tax Technology initiative: empowering women to lead boldly, innovate fearlessly, and uplift one another.
