IOTA’s Miguel Silva Pinto Delivers Keynote at Vertex Exchange Europe Conference

This premier event for European business tax technology professionals featured Miguel Silva Pinto, Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA) executive secretary, who presented the keynote address. As part of the keynote, Silva Pinto, as well as Vertex President and CEO David DeStefano and Director of VAT Danny Vermeiren, discussed the digitalisation of tax. They outlined the challenges and opportunities this creates, how these trends are triggering changes within tax administrations, how technology can help businesses stay compliant, and navigate the increasingly complex tax landscape.

The theme of the conference was "Leading Tax Forward" and featured discussions around what global tax departments need in terms of advanced tax solutions to deal with increased pressure from governments, complex tax compliance, and digital transformation efforts.

“Companies will not be able to avoid digitalisation,” said Silva Pinto during the keynote. “Technology impacts all aspects of our life, including taxes, changing the relationship between tax administrators and taxpayers. Modernisation and digitalisation of tax requires active participation and collaboration between stakeholders including tax administrations, businesses, technology developers, and tax intermediaries. IOTA has already started to lead the way in these efforts.”
