Vertex Inc., the leading provider of corporate tax solutions, announced today that Senior Principal, Tax Compliance Analyst George L. Salis has earned the Certified Business Economist (CBE) designation from the National Association for Business Economics (NABE). Among the inaugural class of CBE recipients, Salis was recognized at the 2015 NABE Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. on October 11.
The CBE is a comprehensive certification covering core topics in applied economics and data analytics. In addition to demonstrating a mastery of this knowledge, CBE designees are required to complete courses in verbal and written communication skills and pursue continuing education throughout their careers. The CBE program was launched in October 2014 and is governed by a board that includes leading economists working in business, academia, and government.
“The CBE designation verifies that the designee has the skills, knowledge, ethics, and dedication to deliver business economics value in the workplace,” said John Viglione, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Vertex. “We are extremely pleased to recognize George’s accomplishment in receiving one of the highest standards of professional excellence in economics.”
“I am privileged and honored to have achieved this difficult and distinguished designation, and to be recognized along with many of my colleagues and peers,” said Salis.
“The CBE is a symbol of distinction," said NABE Executive Director Tom Beers. "It is the only credential of its kind in the economics profession, and those who earn it distinguish themselves as professionals who seek to keep their skills and knowledge current, and who seek to become leaders in the field of applied economics and data analytics."
CBE™ and Certified Business Economist™ are certification marks owned by the National Association for Business Economics. NABE is the premier professional association for business economists and those who use economics in the workplace. Past presidents of NABE include former Chairman of the Board of Governors for the Federal Reserve System Alan Greenspan, several former Federal Reserve governors, and other senior business leaders.
