Vertex Sponsors Back-to-School Drive to Benefit Local Students

Vertex, Inc. is proud to sponsor a back-to-school drive to benefit the Eisenhower Science and Technology Leadership Academy in Norristown, PA. The school supply drive is part of the Vertex Corporate Philanthropy program and the company’s partnership with the Big Brother Big Sisters Independence Region Beyond School Walls program. The school supply drive kicks off Vertex’s third year of involvement with the program.

Vertex employees are invited to donate backpacks (appropriate for middle schoolers), thumb drives, pencils, notebooks and folders until September 20. Following the collection, a group from Vertex will drop off the supplies at the school.

“We’re honored to be able to expand our partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region by sponsoring this back-to-school drive,” said Lauren Breeze, Vertex communications director and corporate philanthropy steward. “Forty percent of children in the Greater Philadelphia region live in poverty or low-income homes, and we’re proud to support so many local students with the tools they need to succeed in school.”

As the nation’s largest volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”) in communities across the country. Each year, about 25 Vertex “Bigs” match with student “Littles” to introduce them to the idea of a career at an early age and provide them with an opportunity to learn about the corporate world first-hand. Through relationships with their “Bigs,” students experience what it means to work for a corporation and the educational requirements needed to achieve professional success.
