Vertex® Sales Tax Training - O Series®

Vertex O Series is Vertex's next generation solution for effective management of a corporation's transaction-based tax responsibilities. Vertex O Series is built on the common platform of the Transaction Processing System and includes the following tax specific products:

  • Vertex® Consumer Use Tax O Series®
  • Vertex® Lease Tax O Series®
  • Vertex® Sales Tax O Series for POS®
  • Vertex® Sales Tax O Series®
  • Vertex® Value Added Tax O Series®

All products utilize the common capabilities of the Transaction Processing System such as setup and maintenance tools, reporting functions and a common interface to the financial system. This means simpler integration to ERP applications as well as a consistent user interface that makes it easier to learn and operate the full suite of Vertex O Series products

  • Basic knowledge of your company's tax reporting system or requirements

  • Tax professionals responsible for system customization to incorporate their tax and business requirements into Vertex O Series

  • IT or Tax professionals responsible for monthly system maintenance
  • IT personnel responsible for integrating Vertex O Series with a financial application

  • Test Taxability Manger setups with the Transaction Tester
  • Complete case studies to practice newly learned skills
  • Use Rate Lookup to review standard tax rates
  • Use Tax Area Lookup to determine Tax Area IDs
  • Use Data Management tools to manage Taxability Manager and transaction data
  • Generate Taxability Manager and transaction reports
  • Setup and maintain system security
  • Use Data Update to manage rate and Tax Area ID data
  • Review License Manager to monitor overall system activity
  • Review Activity Log to monitor user system activity
  • Review Resources which support using the O Series products

  • Set up your organizational structure and registrations in Taxability Manager
  • Use the Taxability Manager to define and maintain your company's taxability exceptions for taxability drivers, customers, and jurisdictions
  • Use the Transaction Tester to verify your taxability setup in the Taxability Manager
  • Generate transaction and Taxability Manager Reports with the Reports Utility
  • Create an export file for Returns processing with the Returns Export Utility
  • Administer the O Series system including security, data management, license management, and activity log
