Women’s Tax Network Helping to Connect Professionals in Philadelphia

It turns out that Philadelphia is the City of Sisterly Love, too. 

That is, when it comes to corporate tax! I’m talking about the Philadelphia Women’s Tax Network, a group of all female tax professionals that I founded in conjunction with a partner in a leading tax law firm and a Big 4 tax professional over  two years ago. 

Regardless of industry, title and experience, all women in the area working in corporate tax are welcome, as well as their views, and of course the networking is what it's all about. Career advancement is one focus, with job opportunities highlighted at the beginning of each meeting, and the discussion can also include others who are looking for new opportunities as well. We have seen a number of positive advancements within the group and I expect we will see many more in the future.

 The Philadelphia Women’s Tax Network is modeled after the New Jersey Women’s Tax Network, whose meetings I enjoyed attending in the past.  I wanted to bring that same energy and information sharing to women tax professionals in the Philadelphia region. 

We meet for lunch  four to five times a year (sticking to a tax-friendly meeting schedule) to catch up with each other. The discussions at our meetings center on tax trends, legislation, negotiation practices and a wide range of workplace issues. 
 
Our group’s philosophy and work dovetails nicely with Vertex’s commitment to foster women leaders, as well as to my own “pay it forward” commitment to mentoring up-and-coming tax professionals.
