Illinois Offers Internet Sales Tax Filing
The Illinois Department of Revenue now offers free high-speed electronic sales tax filing without special software.
According to the Department this new service ensures accuracy, immediate credit of payment, encrypted transmissions, filing confirmation, and 24/7 convenience. The online filing is identical to the paper returns that businesses are used to filing.
Nearly all taxpayers can use this new service with the following exceptions
- Customers with more than 160 locations
- Customers who report prepaid sales tax on motor fuel
- Customers who use the Temporary Storage or Direct Pay option
Simply log onto www.Iltax.com and get a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
If a taxpayer has a PIN number problem or if they have questions, the department can be reached by telephone at 800.732.8866 or 217.782.3336.
