Vertex’s T.J. Turner Appointed to the IRS Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee (ETAAC)
Berwyn, PA – December 6, 2010 – Vertex Inc., the leading provider of corporate enterprise tax solutions, today announced that the company’s Director of Income Tax Research, Terrance “T.J.” Turner Jr. has been appointed to serve as a panel member on the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee (ETAAC). Turner was appointed with six additional new members and chairman on November 23.
ETAAC (“the Committee”) is a 14-member panel of the IRS authorized under the Federal Advisory Committee Act. The Committee provides an organized public forum for discussion of electronic tax administration issues in support of the overriding goal that paperless filing should be the preferred and most convenient method of filing tax and information returns. Each June, the Committee presents an annual report to the United States Congress on the progress of the IRS with electronic tax administration.
“ETAAC fills a crucial role in our tax system, particularly as the IRS continues to employ more advanced technologies and automation strategies,” said Jeff Westphal, Chief Executive Officer of Vertex Inc. “T.J.’s wealth of experience and expertise in tax technology and implementation, as well as his unique perspective coming from a leading provider of enterprise tax solutions, will prove invaluable to both the Committee and the IRS’s larger technology and automation plans. His appointment is a great honor -- both for him and for Vertex.”
