Berwyn, PA – February 4, 2010 – Vertex Inc., a leading provider of corporate enterprise tax solutions, today announced the launch of on-location operations in Brazil. The new Brazilian operations provide Vertex global customers with localized tax research and much-needed support in a country known for its complex tax structure. The new office operates under the name Vertex Global Tax Solutions Brasil Ltda., and functions as an indirect subsidiary of Berwyn, Pa.-based Vertex Inc.

Vertex has expanded tax capabilities for Brazil under the direction of seasoned Brazilian tax professional Ana Maciel, Vertex Principal Tax Analyst.

With more than 10 years of consulting experience, Maciel has advised major Brazilian and international companies on indirect tax issues. In her new role, she is responsible for serving the current Vertex client base who conduct business in Brazil, tracking Brazilian and other South American indirect tax law changes at the federal, state, and municipal levels, conducting research to support and maintain Brazil tax data in Vertex® Value Added Tax 0 Series®, providing guidance for customer implementations, and offering expertise on Brazilian indirect tax automation to customers.
Maciel previously worked as a senior manager of Ernst & Young's "Customs and International Trade - CIT" practice in Brazil, and has consulted with leading companies in the private equity, financial services, energy, manufacturing, and retail among several other sectors.
