Vertex^® Named IBM Cognos^® New OEM Partner Solution of the Year

Berwyn, PA – June 19, 2009 – Vertex Inc., the leading provider of enterprise corporate tax solutions, today announced that it was named the “New OEM Partner Solution of the Year” by IBM. Vertex’s Chief Technology Officer, John Viglione, and Sr. Manager of Application Development, Karen Stine, accepted the award at the annual IBM Cognos Forum.

The award recognizes new IBM partners that architect and deliver exceptional value to their customers through leveraging IBM software to optimize their business practices.

According to IBM, Vertex received the award for delivering a new Business Information (BI) application to market in the past year with a product roadmap that factors a strong expansion of use not only in BI capability, but also performs management capabilities. Vertex’s innovative approach to supporting its end users earned them recognition as the New OEM Partner Solution of the Year by IBM.

Vertex utilized IBM Cognos software in the development of Vertex® Reporting and Analysis®, which is used to report and consolidate analytics in Vertex’s Web-based transaction tax solution. Vertex Reporting and Analysis equips companies to analyze trends and deviations from trends, itemize product taxability, delineate customer exemptions by jurisdictions, and identify irregularities before they become an audit issue. The current product functionality is being expanded in 2009 to include country-specific VAT.
