Going Green
It's Not Easy Being Green, But We Think it's Worth It!
At Vertex "going green" is more than an initiative. We have taken steps over the past several years to integrate green programs into our daily business practices. From the formation of our Green Guild to our hotel selection for this year's conference, Vertex realizes going green isn't an easy endeavor, but one that our planet will thank us for in the long run.
How is Vertex helping the environment with Vertex Exchange 2008?
- Pulp is so Passé: While handouts are nice to have, we've realized that by allowing attendees to electronically download course materials at the end of the conference we are able to save close to 300,000 pieces of paper.
Also, by offering product prospectus material on CD, we have saved close to 100,000 pieces of paper. In addition, shipping CD's as opposed to boxes upon boxes of material saves on valuable fuel resources and non-biodegradable packaging materials.
- Less Plastic for Parched Participants: This year each attendee will be handed a reusable water bottle as opposed to cups and one-and-done bottles. We estimate that this will save over 20,000 cups from occupying a landfill for generations to come.
