As a family entertainer, the hours vary and could cut into a traditional work schedule. But because of the flex-time policy at Vertex, I am able to pursue my hobby and feel comfortable that it won't interfere with my work. But the hours aren't the only way that Vertex assists me with my hobby. They encourage and support my theatrical endeavors.  The culture here truly recognizes that we all have lives outside of this work and that some of those skills can be leveraged into my work at Vertex!

At Vertex, I work on the edge of technology, but at home I like a simple life. There is no computer, not even an answering machine. I want to make time for the things my wife and I feel are important. For example, we enjoy a special hobby - carving duck decoys, snakes and fish. We learned to carve about 10 years ago when we lived in Louisiana. We're also active in our church, and I enjoy a breakfast and bible study with friends every Wednesday morning. The flex-policy at Vertex allows me to attend these breakfasts, carve out time for my hobbies, and still be a productive member of the Vertex team. I guess you can have it all.

Process Engineer/Dog Trainer
As a Process Engineer at Vertex, I'm kept pretty busy. But outside of work I'm just as busy with the many hobbies that I enjoy.  Along with gardening, biking, photography, and training dogs, I'm also a watercolor artist. The flex time policy at Vertex truly  makes a difference in my life by providing the time in which to pursue my hobbies. It feels good to know the company I work for actually supports me in making time for my interests outside of work.
