announces the release of the latest version of its O Series
line of products for web services environments. The new release
of Vertex O Series addresses the need for faster and more
accurate global transaction tax processing with a host of
new features.
“Prior to our implementation of Vertex’s solutions
we managed our tax processing through a combination of outsourcing
and manual intervention,” said Bahar Limaye, Application
Architect, The College Board, a Vertex Sales Tax and Value
Added Tax (VAT) O Series customer. “The College Board
anticipates significant ROI, now that we have a centralized
system and a unified tax process for domestic and international
taxes. We chose Vertex solutions for their ability to handle
the complex rules associated with sales tax management and
their fit with our J2EE WebLogic environment.”
The new release provides local level taxability for sales
tax and consumer use tax through the application of Vertex
supplied rules for more than 2,000 jurisdictions that do
not follow state rules. “With this latest version of
Vertex Sales Tax O Series, companies who have been relying
on Vertex research for state level taxability can now rely
on that same level of accurate taxability determination for
county, city, and district rules as well,” said Wendy
Gerhart, product manager, Vertex Sales Tax O Series. “This
advancement upholds Vertex’s reputation for continuously
offering the most comprehensive solutions to our customers.”
The latest release offers users additional flexibility
to create unique taxability categories and to define and
apply their own tax rules. Search mechanisms have been enhanced
to allow for easier retrieval of data, and configuration
options provide more flexibility in applying the jurisdiction
identification component.
Vertex O Series platform has been designed to support every
major tax type, delivering an integrated suite of solutions
that share a common user interface. Deployed in a web services
environment, its XML interface provides a single integration
point to one-or-more ERP, e-Commerce, financial or billing
systems, to help customers reduce costs associated with tax
processing.
Current users have the convenience of easily converting
their current installed Vertex solution using an upgrade
install feature. Vertex Consulting aided The College Board
in setting up the taxability of the system, providing the
complementary support needed for the full implementation. “Vertex
Consulting was an extremely valuable asset to our project,
providing smooth implementation services with Best Practices
for our business,” said Limaye. Vertex Consulting is

implementation and installation services.
