Colorado Offers More Green Backs for Going Green
Colorado's Taxpayer Service Division updated their information concerning the use of their Manufacturing Equipment Exemption Certificate Form DR 1191 (03/05) during the month of December, 2007.
With the increased awareness concerning renewable energy sources, the exemption for the production of electricity was expanded to include renewable energy electricity production machinery and parts. The exemption went into effect on May 23, 2007. Companies that qualify but have not taken advantage of this exemption should check their records for a refund opportunity.
The document also summarizes the provisions to qualify for the general manufacturing exemption by including definitions regarding direct and predominate use. Coverage for Enterprise Zones is outlined as well as the description of cases related to Special Mobile Equipment and Leased Equipment.
